redirecting one url to another with .htaccess
« on: June 29, 2016, 05:23:37 PM »
I'd like to redirect this url:

to this url:

Right now I'm doing the redirect with a meta redirect, but it slow enough for the redirection to be visible so I'd like to do it in .htacess.  I'm using the following code:

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
rewriterule ^authors/author.php?author_name=Christopher+D.+Burns(.*)$ http://aalbc.com/authors/home.php?author_name=Christopher+D.+Burns$1 [r=301,nc]

but the redirection is not taking place

Apologize for the long delay in response.

I did test the URL you're looking to redirect and see it is not redirecting as you'd like.  We have multiple tools available for you to write your redirect.  Most notably, http://media.newtektechnologyservices.com/htaccess_kb/ & https://help.webcontrolcenter.com/kb/a1743/_htaccess.aspx

We do have an in house development team who can look at this for you as well.  Feel free to open a ticket to start the process.
