1 -  Programming/Design / PHP Forum / Re: Wordpress Security Practices

Started by Jason [NTS] - Last post by nesir on: August 30, 2017, 06:27:27 AM

I stumbled upon this thread about wordpress by chance. I have only recently implemented it within some of my pages. Creating a theme bases on my static html and then via php converting them into dynamic web pages and then this seems to have worked well for me. I hear alot about worpress security issues but i was under the immpression that it was a thing of the past.... this is usefull information to me indeed.

I was wonder if you have time perhaps you could do something on the search engine optimisation of WordPress , while i do fine with static HTML i am somewhat struggling with WordPress redirects , https mixing with http pages , url's that contain symbols. I have searched the php files but cannot find where this data is listed. As an alternative i downloaded a search engine optimisation plugin which offered much of what i was looking for. However it seems that it does not resolve the issues so it needs to be done within the php and not admin. Maybe it is because i migrated this site into WordPress.

its come to the point where i have stopped google with my rbt.txt file from crawling wp as a temporary measure because it the errors, none which can be seen from a users perspective are costing me on seo.

However like i said if you have some spare time , please share your tips and thoughts on search engine optimasation in WordPress.

I recently wanted to increase my page loading time. I had a bounce-rate on my website that i wasn't pleased with. So i looked into the options ive optimised pretty much everything and the i ran across the keep alive tcp option. This is on a shared server , apache 2.2. I read up on it though there are many tutorials saying you can edit the settings in ht.access it does not work. It needs to be done in the httpd config file to which i have no access. So i phoned up my hosting company and asked if they could allow it and they said they dont provide it, for obvious reasons i know. So i turned to cdn's . I am up with cloud-flare now keeping a close eye. My question is has anybody ( because of the manner in which cloud-flare stores and serves content) come across Serp problems ?

3 -  Programming/Design / E-commerce Forum / Wordpress E-commerce

I am just starting the creation of a wordpress forum to be used with e-commerce. I figured I would start a discussion thread here and chart my progress and ask for suggestions. Has anyone built an e-commerce website from scratch based on wordpress?
So far, I have tried wp-e-commerce but, after I installed this plug-in, I went to click on "settings" for this plug in and it told me that I did not have permissions to use the settings option. But I am the admin of the wordpress. I went through many resources E-Commerce Video to find more information and help but, did not find much information.
What do you think?
I have been told that the best known is WOOCOMMERCE. I might try that next.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you.

Here is a website I have developed for a packers and movers business. Here is the website details- Cloud Packers - http://www.cloudpackers.com/
In this particular website, I have added one contact us form in the mid of the website and another one is in the menu section. The menu section contacts us form is working but with the same PHP script, the body section form is not working.
How can we solve the issue?

Apologize for the delayed response.

This typically is a permissions issue as you hinted at.  WordPress and Windows sometimes don't play the best together.  One of the common arenas where problems arise is where folders are written to by some type of action within WordPress.  What normally ends up happening is we temporarily update permissions on the IUSR for the wp-content folder to modify/write permissions, have the client make the necessary updates &/or uploads, then close off modify/write permissions for that folder.

We'd be happy to help moving forward.  Please let us know!

I do not know much about the hosting company you mention however Newtek does support a variety of Windows hosting needs.  In particular, DotNetNuke.  I reviewed the DotNetNuke requirements on their site: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/docs/developers/requirements.html

We have Windows 2008 & Windows 2012 plans, with MS SQL 2014 that is sure to meet your needs.  You can view our Windows hosting plans here: http://webservices.thesba.com/windows-server-2012-webcontrolcenter/
